Environmental ideas from people at day of events
On a beautiful sunny October day hundreds of people took part in events across Mold to share their ideas about how they would like to see our local environment improved. The day was organised by North Wales Wildlife Trust (NWWT) and their partners, who are developing the ‘Wild About Mold’ project.
NWWT has been awarded a Big Lottery ‘Create Your Space’ grant, and several sites included in the project hosted events, including Bailey Hill. People gave their ideas on postcards at the events and with these and other information NWWT are making an application for full Lottery funding of up to £2 million. If this is successful the project aims to establish:
- a 7.7km safe, green, waymarked, route around Mold – the Mold Green Band
- an off-road walking route, along the old railway line through fields and wooded areas from Mold to Rhydymwyn
- a network of publicly accessible, biodiverse green spaces within (and within walking distance) of Mold
- the River Alyn as an attractive, accessible, well interpreted feature
plus other ‘living landscape’ improvements along the Alyn and Wheeler valleys to the wonderful nature reserves at Y Ddôl Uchaf, Coed Trellyniau and Coed y Felin.
To give your ideas before the end of November please contact Nia Jones, NWWT, on 01248 351541 or email
The Create Your Space programme is funded jointly by the Big Lottery as well as Dormant Accounts money.
