Mold Shrove Tuesday Pancake Races 2013

Phil from Vaughan Davies cheered on by the crowd in 2012

Pancakes will be flipping around Mold for the annual pancake races on Shrove Tuesday, 12 February, starting at 2pm in Daniel Owen Square.

The races are organised by Mold Town Council and Cittaslow Mold and entry is free with pans, pancakes and aprons all provided. The Pancakes are being made and donated by Jean-Jacques Poteau of Tasters Delicatessen, Daniel Owen Precinct, Mold.

People can enter on the day, just before the pancake races. Teams of four run in a relay – each person, wearing an apron, runs one length of Daniel Owen Square, tossing and catching their pancake 3 times. They then hand over their pan, pancake and apron to the next person in their team. The skill lies not so much in the running of the race but in flipping and catching the pancake.

Teams will be timed and the fastest adult team and young person’s team, which has tossed their pancakes the correct number of times, will win a prize.

Come along and join in, or cheer your team along, the event is great fun for all ages. Phone Sam Roberts, Mold Town Clerk on 01352 758532 for more information on the race.
