Food lovers’ festival

If you enjoy good, local produce then come along to Mold Food and Drink Festival on the weekend of 15 and 16 September. The Festival will be returning for the 13th year, bringing with it the very best exhibitors, cookery theatres, produce, and leading names in the culinary world. Once again it is being held on New Street car park, with an array of quality food and drink producers and exhibitors from the local area and beyond.

With an entertaining mix of celebrity chefs, demonstrations, hands on cookery sessions and other activities for children, and a packed line up of live music, the Festival offers a weekend of fun for the whole family.

Celebrity Masterchef winner, author and actress Lisa Faulkner will be cooking up dishes for visitors to try. Lisa has enjoyed a superb cooking career since winning the BBC One competition.

Stephen Stevens, who runs Sosban & The Old Butchers on Anglesey and claimed the island’s first Michelin star, will also cook up a treat for visitors. The chef, who specialises in cooking with local produce sourced daily, joins Lisa on the Sunday.

Saturday’s line-up features celebrity chef Graham Tinsley, with the Welsh National Culinary Team, Graham has had the privilege of cooking for the Queen and members of the Royal Family on numerous occasions, as well as the Emperor of Japan and European Heads of State at Cardiff Castle.

Bake-off competition

This year’s bake-off competition is being run with Fairtrade Mold. If you’re smashing with a spoon or handy with a whisk or would just like to give baking a go then this is the competition for you.

The Fairtrade cupcake competition is open to ALL with no age limits. Bring your best chocolate banana flower cupcake to the festival between 10am and 11am on Saturday 15 September (deliver to the gate by site office) and our super judges will choose their favourite. The recipe, which was developed by Cadbury for Fairtrade is on the Festival’s web site.

Tickets to Mold Food and Drink Festival are £7 for adults, £3 for children (aged four to 12), under three’s free, and £15 for a family of two adults and two children.

A park and ride service will be available from Theatr Clwyd, Raikes Lane.
