Local Food Specialities

Mold Food and Drink Festival

Mold Food and Drink Festival 2011

Mold is in the Borderland region of Wales and England. The diversity of the landscape reflects the diversity of local food to be found in the area. Some of the best food on offer from small food producers can be found at Celyn Farmers’ Market, and Mold Food and Drink Festival.

Celyn Farmer’s Market is held on the first and third Saturdays of the month in Mold and the third Sunday of the month at Deeside College’s, Northop campus near Mold. For details of the Celyn producers, venues and times and other producers in Flintshire and Denbighshire look at the Directory of Local Producers.

One of their more unusual food specialities is buffalo meat from North Wales Buffalo. It is very lean, has a low cholesterol content and tastes similar to top quality beef. John and Wendy Sigsworth of North Wales Buffalo, produce quality buffalo at their family run Midlist Farm, Halkyn, near Mold. The farm is a member of Tir Cynnal, the Welsh countryside stewardship scheme, and is Farm Assured.

The 2012 Mold Food and Drink Festival will be held on the weekend of Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September, at New Street car park in Mold. Over 80 exhibitors will be taking part, with cookery demonstrations by local and celebrity chefs to entertain and inspire the audiences with their culinary skills.
