Springy, the Mold Spring Clean mascot and volunteer

Another successful Mold Spring Clean

An amazing 740 volunteers made Town sparkle during this year’s Mold Spring Clean.

Residents, businesses and organisations collected 340 bags of rubbish and other large items; the Scouts re-planted the flower bed outside the

Co-op; members of Youth Service cleaned Tyddyn Street and Ponterwyl; Army Cadets tackled the grot spots by Griffiths Square car park; wild flowers were planted in St Mary’s Community Orchard, and 100s of old tree guards were removed from established trees there. Ysgol Bryn Gwalia produced the winning jingle for the Springy promotion competition.

Dave Hill, Mold Town manager, who helped to organise the clean up, said that volunteers had made a tremendous effort to improve Mold, with the help of Flintshire County Council Streetscene team. More work will be carried out over the next few weeks to finish off some of the jobs, such as re-varnishing benches, which had been rained off during the Spring Clean.
