Town Council caretaker retires

Mayor of Mold, Carol Heycocks with Tony and Nanette Davies and Sam Roberts, Mold Town Clerk

Tony Davies who has been caretaker for Mold Town Council has retired after many years working for the Council. He started with the Council in 1976 as cemetery superintendent and during that time Mold Cemetery won a best kept cemetery award in 1991.

He then became the caretaker at the Town Hall, opening up for hundreds of meetings and functions at the Chamber and in the Jubilee Room. Many user groups and organisations knew Tony as the reliable and friendly face of the Council, who was always willing to help.

Tony and his wife Nanette watered the hanging baskets and planters in Mold during the summer months for over ten years. There has been a rolling programme to increase the number of baskets in Town and from just ten baskets when Tony started there are now over 100 floral displays.

At the Council’s annual meeting, Mayor of Mold, Carol Heycocks presented Tony with a gift on behalf of her fellow Town Councillors, and thanked him for his years of first-class service, wishing him all the best for the future.
