Sweet treats for race winners

Children and adults who won Mold’s Pancake Day races received their prizes at Spavens Sweet Shop, King Street, Mold.

Alicia Basnett, Molly Brocklehurst, Elyse Gerrard and Anghared Parry, won the children’s race with a time of 1:00:97. Rhiannon Spaven of Spavens, presented them each with a mug, brimming full of sweets.

The adult winners were the Pen Y Bont Farm team with a slightly slower race time of 1:08:16. Stephen Newman, manager of the Pen Y Bont Farm, accepted a big box of sweets donated by Spavens on behalf of the rest of his team, who were Chris Gannon, Michelle Egerton and Brett Hartsley.

The race involved running a four-leg relay while flipping pancakes and having to swap aprons with team-mates. The pancakes were donated by Spavens who also kindly hosted the prize-giving in their Mold shop and provided the prizes.

Mayor of Mold, Cllr Bob Gaffey, congratulated the winners and thanked Spavens for supporting Cittaslow Mold and Mold Town Council, organisers of the pancake races, through their sponsorship.
