Sun shines on Bailey Hill Festival

Cambria Band entertain the crowds relaxing on the Inner Bailey

Nearly 2000 people came up to Bailey Hill in Mold to enjoy the Festival in the sunshine on Sunday. It was fantastic to see so many people relaxing on the Inner Bailey enjoying themselves listening to some great music from talented local bands, Andy Hickie, Cambria Band, Heal The Last Stand, Jessica Ball, Sparrowhawks and Mr Huw

The Gorsedd site came alive when storytellers Ruth Moore Williams and Bethan Williams kept their audiences spellbound with wonderful tales and songs, some of which originated from this part of North East Wales

On the Outer Bailey there was a chance to try out swords and armour with hands on history from the Age of the Princes, as well as stalls demonstrating traditional crafts, and getting back to nature with advice on how to grow your own food. Trinity Fammau Scouts sold hot food from the Outer Bailey and in Kings Christian Centre Hall there were delicious cakes and refreshments made by Buckley and Mold Lions for visitors to enjoy

Lots of children, and their adults, got stuck into the glue and found objects at the creative arts play on both the Inner Bailey and Gorsedd sites. And tried their hand at different types of circus skills with Ukanuni

The Festival was organised by Cittaslow Mold and over 60 volunteers helped on the day to make the Festival such a success, and by the end of the day quite a few knew first hand why it’s called Bailey Hill. Without the time, energy and enthusiasm of these volunteers events like this wouldn’t be able to take place

In the previous week a team of Flintshire County Council gardeners had cut the hedges, strimmed the verges, cleared away the piles of leaves from the paths and mown the grass to make Bailey Hill welcoming for visitors

The Festival was kindly sponsored by Mold Town Council, Flintshire County Council, Communities First and the Rotary Club of Mold, along with money raised at events over the previous year by Cittaslow Mold
