As we are now firmly into the ‘ber’ months, time to think about Christmas and what better way to get you into the festive spirit than signing up for Mold Town Council’s Santa Dash.
Mold Santa Dash was held for the first time last year and was a great success with around 300 Santas dashing through Town. This year, Mold Town Council is hoping to double up on the number of entrants and registration is open until 30 November.
The race is suitable for all ages and abilities and the circular route is just under 1.5 miles around Town. Entry fee is £10 per person and this includes a one-size-fits-all Santa suit. Children under 12 years old can take part free of charge, but will be asked to provide their own festive outfit. Those taking part can choose whether to run, jog or walk and will be rewarded at the end of the race with a medal and certificate.
The proceeds from the entrance fee will go to the Mayor of Mold’s ‘Save a Life’ appeal, which is supporting Welsh Hearts and St John Cymru, to place 25 defibrillators around Mold. And to provide save a life awareness sessions for residents and businesses within the town.
If other charities or community groups would like to enter and carry out a sponsored dash to raise money for their own cause, they are more than welcome to do so.
The Santa Dash will take place on Sunday 11 December with the race setting off from Earl Road at 11am. Before the race starts, at 10.30am, Emma Knox-Jones from Elite Dance & Fitness Studio will be putting the Santas through a short warm up routine, which was a highlight of last year’s event as 300 Santas jumped and danced on Daniel Owen Square!
