Mold festive fun at Christmas

Mold Christmas lights switch-on

Marking the start of the Christmas countdown Mold’s magical festive lights will be switched on by Father Christmas on Tuesday 28 November. The town centre will sparkle in what promises to be a night to remember, with choirs from the local schools and Urban Fusion providing the festive entertainment from 3.45pm in Daniel Owen Square – with a finale by Mold Town Band. Father Christmas will switch the lights on at 6pm, and meet children in his grotto afterwards. There will also be a funfair on the High Street from 3.45pm to 8pm.

Over the last two years Mold Town Council has invested £20,000 in making the Xmas lights safe and green, by replacing the overall electrical system and buying energy efficient LEDs.

Mold Celtic Christmas Fayre

A new Christmas market will be held over five days from Wednesday 29 November to Sunday 3 December. Mold Celtic Christmas Fayre will combine with the town’s street market in and around Daniel Owen Square. Craft, gift and food stalls will be under cover in special marquees, open from 10am to 5pm daily, with free admission. There will be live entertainment, hot festive food and a Santa’s grotto.

Add to this the town’s great selection of independent shops, popular national retailers, pubs, restaurants and cafes – plus the special festive programme and ice rink at Theatr Clwyd – and there are plenty of good reasons to spend some quality leisure time in Mold.

Mold Santa Dash

Get into the festive spirit and register for Mold’s Santa Dash held on Sunday 10 December. Here’s your chance to dress up in a Santa suit and run, jog or walk the 1.4 mile route. The great santa warm up starts at 10.30am in Daniel Owen Square, ready for the start of the race at 11am. Entry is £10 per adult which includes a santa suit. Entry is free for under 12’s but come in your own festive outfit. All entrants will be rewarded with a medal and certificate. Organized by Mold Town Council, the proceeds from the entrance fee will go to the Mayor’s fundraising appeal supporting Bailey Hill’s improvement. Details: www.moldtowncouncil.org.uk
